Re: N75 replacement due to age and miles?
Last Poster: mjmallia in Mk5 General Area on Yesterday at 02:23:25 pm
Yes.....Replaced the N75 last week, as all valves start to wear.  It was quite an awkward position to get to.

Not sure if it is me, but after a quick drive the car pulls harder and feels more positive now......hard to explain, but appears to be a worthwhile task.

Original was a 2005 version D and now on a 2023 version F.

I had the Haldex 'blue' controller on my R32 and it made very little difference tbh.  That was Gen 1 though which was the worst of all the Haldex revisions

Oh no! I guess that confirms it. I like parmesan shavings, but not bearing shavings

It's a tough call regarding what to do.  Repair it to make do, or repair it to last and get more out of it.  Neither is going to be especially cheap, least of all the CDL option, but in for a penny, in for a pound. Depends on your long term plans I guess.

Noice  :happy2:  I have a similar pile of stuff awaiting fitment to the ol' Bimmer.

Our MK6 TDI also had an MOT advisory on a failing CV boot, and one of the console bushes has gone.  Luckily I kept a load of parts back from my ED30, so had all that and more in stock ready to go on   Still going like a trooper that thing  :happy2:  Very reliable and fun car.

Bumping this thread.

Quoted today £1159 from a main VW dealer for this
Independent garage I'#039ve MOTed the car with for last three years of ownership said £500 labour but didn'#039t quote the part, so probs £850ish from them?

Bit pricey no?

Coloured links are a fitment aid only and not critical. nbsp They are more common and useful on engines with several sprockets, but on the GTI with only 2 sprockets, it'#039s no big deal.

So long as the cams are in the right position, you'#039re golden. Just remember to tweak the inlet cam a few degrees anti clockwise when fitting the chain to make sure it has the correct tension

These are my clocks.

To me it looks like either the speedo has been changed with one from a different car or a different face has been stuck over the original to maybe change from km/h to mp/h. Is the car an import?

You have similar symptoms to what I had recently although my car died when driving. It was a faulty relay.

The main dealer system was called ElsaWin but that stops at 2017 (and most versions are VW in German only) and is replaced by ElsaPro within the dealer diagnostic system ODIS, which is very difficult to achieve access to; we had to as we can'#039t function as a VAG specilsist without it. For general garages, fleets and owner enthusiasts, VAG provide the erWin system, the VW site is [u

Cigarette lighter - centre console
Last Poster: slipd in Mk5 General Area on September 23, 2024, 08:59:12 am
Hi guys,

Question, does the cigarette lighter in the centre console illuminate when the lights are on? Because I don't think mine does anymore... I'm sure it used too. Just started to notice it because of the dark UK mornings we've had recently.

Could of course all be in my imagination though, and never illuminated to start with

Thanks!

Misfire help!

Hi All,

Have a 05 AXX gti on 110k. So far plugs, coils have been changed. Injectors were replaced with R tech flow tested injectors. MAF airflow sensor has been changed and so has the pcv valve.

Despite all this the car misfires on idle. Has previously throwing a cylinder 1 misfire code which hasn’t appeared post the injectors being changed. New injectors and

Replaced the N75 as all valves start to wear, as part of my 20yr 100k miles preventative maintenance and it was quite an awkward position to get to.

Not sure if it is me, but after a quick drive the car pulls harder and more positive now......hard to explain, but appears to be a worthwhile task. Original was a 2005 version D and now on a 2023 version F.

VW Golf Mk5 front parking light problem
Last Poster: mithcc in Mk5 General Area on September 20, 2024, 03:07:21 pm
Hi all,

I own a VW Golf V 1.9 GT Sport 2008 and have a small issue related to the right side parking light (passenger side).

I have tried to change the bulb (reference T10 W5W), and I see that the new one doesn'#039t work. I tried with another new bulb, and I see that it doesn'#039t work either.

I have checked all the fuses in the driver'#039s side fuse box,

Re: Has anybody actually replaced the n75 boost controller on their mk5 GTI?
Last Poster: mjmallia in How to Guides / Troubleshooting on September 17, 2024, 09:29:43 am
Replaced mine about a week ago now.

Drivers wheel liner needs to be removed and the car on jacks.  Access is tight but possible......I had to remove the entire IC pipe from the turbo to improve that access further.

The hardest part was getting the original one time use hose clamps off.

Cylinder 3 misfire

Need a bit off advice with 2008 Mk5 Gti Bwa engine, it has a bad misfire on #3 cylinder, plug was bad fouled with oil, replaced plug and coilpack and still have an intermittent misfire. Compression test is good across all cylinders. But there is oil pools on top of 2 pistons. Any suggestions?

Thank you, guys!

Slowly recuperating :) - as there is no rush...

Since I last wrote here, I paid a bit of attention to the other cars in the "quotfleet"quot - which got to be 6 up until a couple of months ago. I'#039ve let 2 go because I wasn'#039t really driving them - but the Golf was not one of them. nbsp :driver:

Edition 30 Rear Valance -Pearl Black (Genuine Part)
£80.00
Location: Manchester
Collection Only

For Sale is my old Pearl Black Edition 30 rear valance. This clips into the upper section of your rear bumper.
This was removed from my golf due someone backing into me at low speed causing surface cracks. (they offered to pay for a new valance)

The surface cracks are around the the number plate area which I've tried to photo the best i can.

The exhaust surround has been bonded back on by the body shop after an encounter with a high kerb a few years ago.

There are storage scratches on the paintwork so will need respraying. You will also need a towing eye cover.

All clips to clip the valance upper bumper section are intact and there is no sign of warping.

This is a genuine valance and was fitted to my ED30 from the factory.
